Webinar on Distributed Ledger Technology Pilot regime (DLT Pilot)

Webinar on Distributed Ledger Technology Pilot regime (DLT Pilot) 27 October 2022

Background information

As part of the Digital Finance Package of September 2020, the European Commission proposed a Regulation on a Pilot Regime for Market Infrastructures using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT Pilot Regime). The DLT Pilot Regime was published in June this year and will start applying in March 2023.

The aim is to make it easier for market participants to experiment with using DLT when trading and settling financial instruments, such as securities. To achieve that, firms can ask for temporary derogations from the existing EU financial services rulebook subject to certain safeguards. The lessons learned under this innovative, sand-box like regime will inform potential future reforms of EU financial services rules.

In this webinar, experts working on digital finance, market infrastructures and capital markets in the European Commission’s financial services department (Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union - DG FISMA) presented the regime and be happy to reply to questions from participants.
