This event is a follow-up to the supplementary pensions package of the savings and investments union (SIU), published in November 2025 in which the Commission committed to facilitating the sharing of good practices in the area of supplementary pensions. The workshop will be a platform for the exchange of views and experience between Member States, to support them in their work in this area.
The Irish EU Presidency offers an opportune moment for a practical discussion on auto-enrolment, as Ireland introduced its own scheme on 1 January 2026. Several other Member States have also implemented, designed or are considering incentives to increase the participation in occupational or personal pension schemes.
The event will provide Member States’ experts an opportunity to
- learn from experiences in other countries with supplementary pensions
- discuss practical challenges in implementing reforms in this area
- explore solutions to improve participation and effectiveness
The workshop primarily targets national ministry staff responsible for supplementary pensions, typically in finance, social or labour ministries.
Please note that this event was by invitation only and not open for registration.
