Job profiles
The European Anti Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) staff primarily relies on temporary and contract agents recruited through open selection procedures. AMLA does not employ permanent officials.
Following a probationary period, temporary agent contracts are fixed-term, with the possibility of renewal and further indefinite extension.
There are two function groups for temporary agents:
- Administrator Function Group (AD)
- Assistant Function Group (AST).
Contract agent contracts vary in duration based on AMLA’s needs and are recruited through the Contract Agents Selection Tool (CAST) permanent selection process. This process is continuous without specific application deadlines.
Contract staff are categorised into different function groups, depending on the nature of the position and corresponding to the duties to be performed, and also undergo a probationary period.
Employees of European public-sector bodies can temporarily work at AMLA through the national expert on secondment (SNE) program. During secondment SNE’s remain at the service of their original employer, bringing their knowledge to AMLA and taking relevant experience back to their home administration.
Working conditions
AMLA offers competitive salaries based on a basic scale for each contract type, function group, and grade.
Staff members pay a European tax, which is deducted directly from their salaries. Deductions also cover sickness and accident insurance, pensions, and unemployment insurance. Salaries are exempt from national taxes.
Additional allowances may apply based on personal circumstances, such as expatriate status or parenthood.
Basic salaries and specific allowances are adjusted using a local weighting (correction coefficient) to account for the cost of living in Frankfurt, Germany, where AMLA is located. As of 1st July 2023, the weighting for Frankfurt, is 103.4% .
