In July 2012, the Commission requested the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) to provide technical advice on the development an EU single market for personal pension products. In February 2014, EIOPA delivered a preliminary report.
In July 2014 the Commission sent a further call for advice to EIOPA and the authority published its final advice in July 2016.
