Description

The Hague Convention on the law applicable to certain rights in respect of securities held with an intermediary is an international multilateral treaty intended to remove, at a global scale, legal uncertainties for cross-border securities transactions. The final text of the convention was agreed in 2002 and signed by the first countries (the USA and Switzerland) in 2006.

In 2003 the European Commission submitted a proposal for a Council decision concerning the signing of the convention, but this proposal was later withdrawn.
