A roundtable on the distribution of retail financial products will bring together representatives of key industry and consumer stakeholders. This roundtable meeting aims to launch an industry-led reflection to consider issues related to the retail investments market’s current practices, as well as relevant technological and societal trends.
The objective is to explore an industry-wide response that would help address existing problems and concerns for the future, with the ultimate goal of increasing the participation of retail investors in capital markets. This reflection should avoid directly addressing any components or elements associated with the European Commission’s recent legislative proposal on a retail investment strategy, which is currently undergoing negotiation.
The process will be entirely industry-led. The European Banking Federation (EBF) will provide the secretariat and coordinate the logistics of the follow up work. After six months, a follow-up roundtable is envisaged to take stock of the results.
