On Thursday 12 June 2025, the European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) will jointly host their annual conference on European financial integration. This year’s event will focus on advancing the savings and investments union (SIU), a key initiative to improve the way the EU financial system helps connect savings with productive investments.
Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque, European Commissioner responsible for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union, ECB Vice-President Luis de Guindos and ECB Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel will be joined by other policymakers and key speakers from public authorities, industry and civil society. The conference will feature panel discussions on two key topics: unlocking retail participation in capital markets and supporting innovation and growth in the EU.
The event also marks the launch of the European Commission's annual European Financial Stability and Integration Review (EFSIR). This year’s report examines the saving and investing habits of EU households and what influences their financial decisions. The review also delves into the opportunities and risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial services sector.
