Events for the launch of the reports of the Platform on Sustainable Finance

Two launch events to present the Platform on Sustainable Finance’s reports on “data and usability of the EU Taxonomy” and “minimum safeguards”.

Objectives

These two events are organised by the Platform on Sustainable Finance, which is an independent advisory body to the Commission. The two events are intended to present the work conducted by the Platform’s Subgroups and the recommendations contained in the reports. The reports inform but do not prejudge any decision or action by the Commission on the matters.

Report on data and usability of the EU Taxonomy

  • The report contains a detailed overview of the first implementation phase of the taxonomy by economic operators and across financial markets
  • It also includes specific recommendations for targeted adjustments to enhance the usability of the taxonomy and improve the coherence of the broader sustainable finance framework
  • The report does not constitute guidance for market participants or legal interpretation of the rules, but it provides input to the European Commission and the European Supervisory Authorities on the implementation issues of the EU taxonomy standards and disclosure requirements

Report on minimum safeguards

  • The report provides advice about the application of specific requirements covered by the standards set out in Article 18 of the Taxonomy Regulation. This provision requires that companies implement procedures to comply with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • The report aims to provide advice to companies, investors and auditors on how they could assess their compliance with the requirement to implement minimum safeguards in line with the Taxonomy Regulation
