- (photo) DG FISMA Induction Programme for Newcomers
Twice a year, FISMA organises an Induction Programme for Newcomers, which generally takes place in March and October. You will receive an invitation to join it directly from the FISMA-HR-CORRESPONDENT
ec [dot] europa [dot] eu (HRC team).
This welcome session is mandatory and held in person, so please ensure you have back-up in your unit if necessary.
Welcome sessions are a great opportunity for newcomers to get to know each other, meet the Director-General and Deputy Director-General, find out what you need to know to work in FISMA and, above all, get an overview of FISMA policies in financial services and how this translates into the work of all Directorates and units.
If you already want to start discovering FISMA before taking part in the Induction programme, you can have a look at the presentations and videos[MA(1] from past sessions, both on horizontal topics and on FISMA policies (the “heart of the matter”).
- Coffee with the Director-General
After the FISMA Induction session you will be invited to join Sean Berrigan, our Director-General, for an informal coffee. This will be your opportunity to ask Sean whatever questions you might have, and meet other FISMA newcomers once again in a smaller group.

If you are new to the European Commission and would like extra support and guidance, then you should consider either the Commission mentoring scheme, with a more experienced colleague from another Directorate-General, or ask for a mentor within FISMA.
The mentoring relationship is confidential and offers you a safe environment where you can discuss work-related issues and explore solutions to problems, including on issues not directly related to your professional tasks. Your line manager will not receive any reports on the content of the mentoring discussions.
To help your integration with regards to your job, FISMA’s policy is to also provide buddying on the job for every newcomer, or staff member taking on completely new tasks. Buddying is available to all officials, Seconded National Experts (SNE), Contract Agents (CA) and Temporary Agents (TA). The Buddy will facilitate your smooth integration in the unit and provide practical guidance on job-related topics. For trainees, advisers will assume this role.

Are you an AST who wants to connect with the AST FISMA community, meet other staff with administrative functions and take part in ad-hoc training sessions to get updates on selected topics? Then join the FISMA AST Network as soon as possible by sending a message to fisma-ast-network
ec [dot] europa [dot] eu (fisma-ast-network[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu).
