FIN-NET's mission

FIN-NET is a network of national organisations responsible for settling consumers' complaints in the area of financial services out of court.

The network covers the countries of the European Economic Area which means

  • the European Union
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Norway

FIN-NET was set up by the European Commission in 2001 to

  • promote cooperation among national ombudsmen in financial services
  • provide consumers with easy access to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures in cross-border disputes about provision of financial services

Any authority in the European Economic Area can join FIN-NET if it
